East Dulwich Cafe: the plate to be

Well, well, beloved diners, it’s new menu time at East Dulwich Picturehouse! We’re thrilled to introduce our scrumptious new array of dishes, a sure antidote to the late-winter blues. Our talented head chef Lily Ferguson-Mahan has been cooking up some delights to excite your palates and generally give us all some much-needed gastronomic joy.

We’re making and serving a whole range of meals and snacks that show how much in love we are with brilliant local ingredients. A couple of spectacular salads make their debut: the light but beautifully balanced baked beetroot, ricotta and pancetta spinach salad plays opposite a rich and filling roasted sweet potato and grilled halloumi number with house pickled shallots, toasted seeds and rich avocado dressing. On the bar snack front, we have a veggie take on the classic spicy buffalo wings, with a blue cheese dip made with roasted cauliflower.

For some welcome comfort food we are also serving up homemade chicken pot pie, an indulgent four-cheese macaroni, and our personal fave, the Manhattan Reuben sandwich. Yes, you can finally experience the joy of this iconic sandwich right here on Lordship Lane. Just so you know: we braise the brisket for a day, we make the Thousand Island dressing in-house, we melt the Swiss cheese to perfection… we have put serious love into this sandwich and boy, does it show.

If you’ve never had one, now is definitely the time, and don’t worry, we’ll be there with the extra napkins!

Relax, snack, indulge: whatever you do, you’ll be getting a tasty dose of the best of American-style cuisine without leaving East Dulwich. And to top it all, we’ve extended our restaurant hours so that you have plenty of time to grab a bite after your film.
